Today the word "Alchemy" brings to mind wizards in pointed hats turning lead into gold and star gazers casting fortunes. In the 17th-century, alchemy brought to mind a very different set of expectations. At the time, alchemy existed in the world between ancient texts and the new science and spilled over into economics, politics and religious reform.
