Please join the Old Bridgewater Historical Society as Shellie Karol-Chik shares information on the 1918 Global Pandemic of Spanish Influenza, and brings to life its effect on the Bridgewater towns 100 years ago. She will share the beginnings of this devastating event, from Patient Zero in Kansas, through the trenches of WWI, and back to Boston’s shores, where Wave Two began in Camp Devens. She’ll share stories and newspaper clippings to illustrate how this flu outbreak effected businesses, schools, and families in the towns of Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, and Brockton, and how these towns struggled to deal with the overwhelmingly ill. Sure to please, the event is open to all and free to attend.
