This book is the result of five years of painstaking effort by OBHS Life Member Barbara Copeland Birkhimer. Mrs. Birkhimer spent years compiling the recors in a format that would be most useful to researchers and genealogists. Earliest Known Map of New England
As included in William Hubbard's 1677 "A Narrative of the Troubles with the Indians in New England". It is a pictoral map of New England and is accompanied by a two-page description. The map measures 11 5/8" by 15 1/8". We have printed it on 65-pound tea-stained ivory parchment. It is our finest map to date and certainly suitable for framing. The accompanying two-page description is printed on matching ivory stock. maps have been hugely popular with our membership and this artistically rendered map includes oceans, rivers, animals, mountains, trees, Indeans, ships and figural representations of settlements joined with the names of places that have been "affaulted" by the Indians. It is beautiful and OBHS President Maureen Lynn is truly excited and pleased that former president Larry Conant has secured permission for us to print this rare woodcut.
